چکیده

We present a network influence game that models players strategically seeding the opinions of nodes embedded in a social network. A social learning dynamic, whereby nodes repeatedly update their opinions to resemble those of their neighbors, spreads the seeded opinions through the network. After a fixed period of time, the dynamic halts and each player’s utility is determined by the relative strength of the opinions held by each node in the network vis-à-vis the other players. We show that the existence of a pure Nash equilibrium cannot be guaranteed in general. However, if the dynamics are allowed to progress for a sufficient amount of time so that a consensus among all of the nodes is obtained, then the existence of a pure Nash equilibrium can be guaranteed. The computational complexity of finding a pure strategy best response is shown to be NP-complete, but can be efficiently approximated to within a (1− 1/e) factor of optimal by a simple greedy algorithm.

Distribution Design of Two Rival Decenteralized Supply Chains: a Two-person Nonzero Sum Game Theory Approach

We consider competition between two decentralized supply chains network under demand uncertainty. Each chain consists of one risk-averse manufacturer and a group of risk-averse retailers. These two chains present substitutable products to the geographical dispensed markets. The markets’ demands are contingent upon prices, service levels, and advertising efforts of two supply chains. We formulat...

مدیریت ریسک سرمایه‌گذاری استراتژیک در تولید با روش برنامه‌ی‌ ریاضی با قیود تعادلی تصادفی

This paper presents a methodology to assist a strategic producer in making informed decisions on generation investment in power market environment. This producer, facing a number of uncertainties which affect its expected profit, endeavors to maximize its profit and at the same time manages the risk of these uncertainties. In order to present the strategic behavior of the producer, supply funct...

Analysis of the Evolutionary Game Theory in Agent-Based Computational Systems: OPEC Oil-Producing Countries

This study suggests a new method for analysing the behavioral economics issues in the framework of game theory. In this context, bounded rational agents interact with one another in a strategic manner. Therefore, conventional economic modeling techniques are unable to explaine this kind of interactions. In this regard, evolutionary game theory and agent-based modeling are known as the most suit...

Strategic Debt and Patent Races*

Most traditional studies of R&D do not consider that the use of leverage to finance R&D may affect total R&D expenditures in a patent race. We show that debt acts as a commitment to a smaller amount of total R&D spending (debt+equity) than would occur if firms were entirely equity financed. A commitment to lower R&D expenditure can be strategically beneficial; under a flow-cost model, debt indu...

Strategies for managing rival bacterial communities: Lessons from burying beetles

The role of bacteria in animal development, ecology and evolution is increasingly well understood, yet little is known of how animal behaviour affects bacterial communities. Animals that benefit from defending a key resource from microbial competitors are likely to evolve behaviours to control or manipulate the animal's associated external microbiota. We describe four possible mechanisms by whi...
